The New Instagram Effecting Your Business!

Recently there has been a lot of fuss about Instagram's new algorithm. In case you didn't know, they are now changing your news feed from chronological order to an order that a shows you your top favorite posts first (top 30%), the rest will follow.

First things first.
Your company profile page is still considered a profile. This means that Instagram will still treat your business page as they would a personal page. You are just as likely to be featured first on someone's newsfeed as their bff.

So what does this mean for my business?
You're going to have to try harder, unfortunately. Now, we have to compete for that top spot, rather than someone just happening upon it.
Instead of your images appearing in chronological order, you now are competing for interactions (likes, comments, and shares).
This may be a great time to start looking into an advertising budget.

Instagram is the new Facebook
Here's the issue. Because Instagram is owned by Facebook, they follow the same concept.
Now, we will start seeing many more ads for business competing, which is exactly what Instagram wants because this in turn is making them more money.

What's next?
Facebook had it's glory days. It still works with the older target market.
Instagram is fading. I think the younger audience will ditch Instagram if there is a close competitor that offers feeds without ads or a more accommodating platform.

If anything, we might venture towards a more familiar app such as VSCO, Twitter, or Tumblr.

That all beings said, it is going to take more time and effort to get your company out there.

It's time to hire an expert!
